Noel Gallagher Likes Jay-Z

The Oasis guitarist also defended his comments about Jay-Z headlining last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival.
He said: “The broadsheets get hold of it and have me going down Hyde Park Corner blasting and slamming.
“For the record, I Iike Jay-Z. That’s my opinion.
“If it offends people, don’t ask me anymore questions.
“I should do these things and answer like every two-bit pop star.”
In April, Noel Gallagher said having the rapper at the festival was the reason tickets had not sold out and that it was “wrong” to have a hip-hop headliner.
Jay-Z played the guitarist’s comments to the crowd at Glastonbury in a video montage before his set and played an acoustic version of Oasis hit Wonderwall.
Music chain HMV say the performance has helped boost sales of Oasis’s album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory, as well as the single Wonderwall.

Noel Gallagher Concerned About Growing Knife Crime
Oasis
‘In my day, status was trying to be somebody… not trying to kill somebody’
Noel Gallagher has joined the debate concerning knife crime amongst young people.
Speaking at the Silver Chef Music Therapy awards, the Oasis songwriter admitted that the topic is inescapable.
“I was up in Liverpool for a week a couple of weeks ago and even on the news there it’s every single night,” said Gallagher told BBC Newsbeat.
He added: “In my day, status was trying to be somebody, do you know what I mean, not trying to kill somebody.”
Asked for his opinion on the reasons behind the rise in knife crime, Gallagher considered the role of video games and drugs in youth culture.
“People say it’s through violent video games and I guess that’s got something to do with it”, he suggested. “If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk and they become so desensitised to crime because they’re playing these video games, it’s really, really scary.”
Gallagher added that finding a solution would be tough, saying: “I don’t even know what [David] Cameron (opposition leader) or Gordon Brown (Prime Minister) are going to do about it.”

Gallagher Brothers Attend Silver Clef Awards
Oasis-news.com/uploaded_images/noelwithsilverclefawardvy2-799559.jpg”>
Oasis were presented with the prestigious O2 Silver Clef Award today (04.07.08).
‘Wonderwall’ rockers Noel and Liam Gallagher attended the exclusive event at London’s Park Lane Hilton hotel where they were given the accolade for their contribution to the music industry by boxing legend Ricky Hatton, who admitted to being a huge fan of the band.
Ricky said: “There are a few things in my life - my family, Manchester City Football Club and Oasis. If someone had said to me a few years ago you would be presenting Oasis with an award I’d have said they were daft. When you are a fan of someone it doesn’t getting any better than presenting them with an award!”
When asked if he would be celebrating with Noel and Liam afterwards, Ricky said: “Noel said he is going to meet me for a pint, so that should be interesting!”
Noel - who controversially said rapper Jay-Z was the “wrong” choice to headline this year’s Glastonbury music festival - also explained his comment.
He told BANG Showbiz: “All I did was give my opinion about ticket sales at Glastonbury and that’s the end of it. For the record I like Jay-Z - it’s just my opinion. If people don’t like it, don’t ask me any more questions. I should just be like every other s**t-bag pop star and just say, ‘Everything is amazing’.”
The event - which was held in aid of Nordoff-Robin Music Therapy, the chosen charity of the music industry which undertakes over 30,000 sessions annually with both children and adults - was hosted by TV presenter Myleene Klass and attended by celebrities including ‘Dragon’s Den’ star Duncan Bannatyne, singer Lisa Stansfield and ‘Top Gear’ host Jeremy Clarkson.
Other winners at the ceremony included Amy Macdonald, who was given The Newcomer Award by comedian Russell Brand following the huge success of her debut album ‘This Is The Life’.
Glaswegian band The Fratellis won the Best British Band accolade, which was presented to them by ‘Hot Fuzz’ actor Simon Pegg.
Before the ceremony started, guests were treated to a Silver Clef luncheon, sponsored by O2.
They also took part in a Silver Clef auction, where prizes included a dinner at London’s Dorchester Hotel hosted by Eddie Jordan, Mike Rutherford and Nick Mason, as well as three limited edition pieces of Paul Weller’s Stanley Road album artwork by Sir Peter Blake, signed by Weller and Blake.

Noel faces up to Geri Halli-hell
Oasis-news.com/uploaded_images/bag-it-up-2-739713.jpg”>
There’s nothing worse than your missus bursting your bubble.
Just ask Noel Gallagher. His partner Sara MacDonald shattered him when she pointed out the title he wanted to give to the new Oasis album was a Geri Halliwell hit.
He said: “The missus goes, ‘Bag It Up? Isn’t that a song by Geri Halliwell?’ I was like, ‘You’ve ruined my entire f****** year’.”
Dig Out Your Soul is released on October 6 but Noel has revealed he was not entirely aware of all of the songs on it.
He told Mojo magazine: “I was doing the Electric Proms with The Coral, who had recorded at my studio. They’d had a sneaky listen to our new stuff so singer James Skelly asks me, ‘Are you gonna do Soldier On?’
“I don’t remember it. Turns out Andy Bell recorded it with Liam – but Liam still doesn’t remember it!”
And Noel and Liam are still arguing – this time over the band’s new drummer Chris Sharrock, who used to work with Robbie Williams.
Noel said: “It was too much of a temptation to p*** Robbie and Liam off in one phone call.”

Noel wants to chat with Jay-Z
Jay-Z has had tremendous success during his tour of Europe, bowling over fans with a slew of festival appearances, including his historic appearance at England’s Glastonbury Festival on Saturday.
“Well, I’m pretty much now in a great place, I’m in the zone,” Sir Hova of Brooklyn told MTV Base this week. “Glastonbury was a historic event for me, I played Milton Keynes the day after that and it’s just … You know, I’m feeling the love. Any time you can come from where I come from - Brooklyn, New York, everybody knows the story - [and] come so far. It’s not that it’s that far, but to come overseas and have people embrace you the way I’ve been embraced thus far, it’s just an amazing feeling.”
One person who obviously didn’t share the fans’ feelings was Oasis’ Noel Gallagher, who was a much-publicized critic of having a rapper headline the traditionally rock-centric Glastonbury fest. Maybe Gallagher’s stance has softened in the wake of Jay’s acclaimed performance - Jay told us he’s heard the guitarist wants to have a conversation.
“I haven’t spoken to him,” Jay said. “I heard he was reaching out, but I haven’t spoken to him.”
Jay even said he’s open to working with Oasis in the future should something suitable come up. “Anyone,” he answered, when asked about who he’d be willing to work with. “Oasis as well - it doesn’t matter to me, I don’t bear any grudge, it’s all good. I just believe in good music and bad music, I’ve always said that. You look at any interview from the beginning of time, I’ve always stated that I don’t believe in the lines and classifications that people put music in so they can easily define it.”

The Banned Glasto Intro Real Appears Online
Banned from TV Noel Gallagher clip appears online
The intro reel played before Jay-Z’s Glastonbury headline show on Saturday (June 28), which featured Oasis’ Noel Gallagher’s derogatory comments about the rapper, has been posted online.
The video features Gallagher’s quote that Jay-Z had “no fucking chance” of pulling off a Glastonbury headline slot, spliced together with archive footage of figures including Bill Clinton, London mayor Boris Johnson and Queen Elizabeth II.
It also features members of the public commenting on Jay-Z, as well as Pharrell Williams, who bigs up the rapper.
The clip did not appear on the BBC’s coverage of Glastonbury because all the footage it uses could not be cleared for broadcast, so until now only those present at the show have seen it.
Jay-Z followed the video montage by kicking off his show with a cover of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’.
